Chettinad Mushroom Masala

If you are a mushroom lover you should definitely try this recipe. This is one easy recipe - all you need is basic ingredients and it tastes way too delicious.  It's quick, you can make it under 30 minutes.


Cooking Time : 30 minutes
Serving Size : 2-3 People

Ingredients:

1. Mushroom - 650g
2. Onions - 1 Cup
3. Tomato - 1 Cup
4. Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
5. Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
6. Kashmiri Chilly Powder - 1tsp
7. Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
8. Cumin Powder - 1/2 tsp
9. Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp
10.Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
11. Corn flour - 1 Tbsp
12. Green Chilly - 1
13. Curry Leaves - 1 String
14. Oil - 1 Tbsp
15. Salt as needed
16. Fennel Seeds - 1/2 tsp

Steps :

1. Wash and cut the mushrooms into half. If it is big you can cut it into 4 pieces.

2.  In a kadai, heat a tbsp of oil, add fennel seeds, add onions and cook until it become translucent. You can add salt at this point.

3. Add ginger garlic paste. Cook until the raw smell goes away.

4. Add tomatoes and cook until it turns mushy. You will start seeing oil ooze out.

5. Now add all the masala powders - turmeric, chilly, coriander, garam masala and cumin powder. Mix well

6. Add mushrooms. 

7. Add very little water. Mushroom releases water by itself.

8. Cover and cook for about 5-10 minutes.

9. Mushroom should be cooked by now. Add a tbsp of Corn flour.

10. Add cut green chillies. Cook until all the water goes away or keep it in a gravy consistency or to your preference.

11. Garnish with Curry Leaves and Cilantro. Keep it in low flame for 5 minutes.


Enjoy it with Rice or Roti!
