Chettinad Kara Chutney - Rojapoo Chutney

Myself and everyone's favorite from my granny's kitchen. When it's paired with idly my granny used to call it as malligai poo idly and rojapoo chutney. Good old days!! Do try it you will love this, i guarantee you.



Cooking Time : 15 minutes
Serving Size : 2-3 People

Ingredients: 

For Grinding:

1. Medium Sized Tomato - 2
2. Small Onions - 4 / Large onions - 2 tbsp
4. Red Chilly - 5 (Adjust according to your spice level)
4. Salt as needed

For Seasoning:

1. Sesame Oil - 2-3 Tbsp
2. Kadugu/mustard seeds - 1 tsp
3. Urad Dhal - 1 Tsp
4. Hing - 1/4 tsp
5. Curry Leaves - 1 String

Steps:

1. Grind all the ingredients mentioned under grinding to a fine paste.

2. In a pressure cooker , heat oil and add all the ingredients mentioned under seasoning one by one.

3. Once it started to sputter, add the grinded chutney to it. Give it a mix. Add little water(1/2 -3/4 cup)

4. Pressure cook for 1 whistle.

5. Once the pressure is released, open the lid and keep it in medium - low flame until oil separates and to get desired consistency.


Ready to serve with hot hot idlies!!
