Instant One Pot Bisibelabath
This happened when I am bored of eating sambar but still wanted to eat something similar to sambar sadham. This is a heathy version, as I have added equal amount of dhal as rice. It tasted delicious!! Keeper for weekdays.
Cooking Time - 30 minutes
Serving Size - 2-3 people
Ingredients:
1. Rice - 100g
2. Toor Dhal- 100g
3. Onion - 1/2 cup
4. Tomato - 1 Medium sized
5. Green chilly - based on your spice level(I added 2)
6. Carrrot - 1 Medium Sized
7. Potato - 1 Medium Sized
8. Eggplant/Kathrikai - 2
9. Beans - 1/2 cup
10. Peas - 1/2 cup
11. Chilly powder - 1 and 1/2 tsp
12. Corrinader powder - 2 tsp
13. Garam Masala Powder - 1 Tsp
14. Tamarind extract - 1- 1and 1/2 tbsp (adjust based on your taste)
15. Cashews - 3-4
16. Ghee 1 Tbsp
17. Salt as needed
18. Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Seasoning
17. Mustard Seeds/Kadugu - 1 tsp
18. Cumin Seeds/ Jeera - 1 tsp
19. Hing/Perungayam - 1/2 tsp
20. Fenugreek Seeds - 1/2 tsp
21. Redchilly - 2
22. Oil - 1 Tbsp
23 - Curry Leaves - a string
Steps:
1. In a Pressure Cooker, heat oil and add all the ingredients one by one mentioned under seasoning.
2. Once it started to sputter, add onions, salt and turmeric powder. Cook until onions turns translucent.
3. Add tomatoes and green chilly, cover and cook until it turns mushy.
4. Add all the veggies. Give it a nice mix.
5. Add Chilly powder, Coriander powder and Garam Masala.
6. Add Tamarind water. Give it a nice mix.
7. Add 1 cup rice/dhal and add water at 1: 2 cups ratio. Pressure cook for 3 whistles and wait until pressure is released.
8. Heat Ghee and add cashews and fry until it turns golden brown
9. Add it to the Bisibelabath. Give it a nice mix and mash here and there to get the consistency.
10. I finally added Bhoondhi to it while serving (It's Optional)
11. Serve hot!! Other wise it will lose it's texture.
